CISM FAQ
- Q: What is a critical incident?
- A: It is any event that may have caused trauma to our thinking, i.e. viewing a body at an accident scene.
- Q: What if I am the only one that finds the event offensive?
- A: The defusing process may be all that is necessary and may occur on a one to one basis through peer support.
- Q: Won't the nightmares, sleeplessness, and eating problems go away over time?
- A: They tend not to go away until we deal with the emotional and mental trauma through talking. It is better to work through the event prior to any problems as these that may arise.
CISM Reporting
If we have an event, a notation needs to go to the wing commander and a notation goes to the GLR CISM Coordinator, usually within 24 hours of an incident. No names are submitted as this is an anonymous process.
